Poplar after 18 months
Poplar and willow are very fast growing trees suitable for providing tall screens, windbreaks and coverts. These selected varieties will also give good quantitites of timber.
POPLAR. This is the fastest growing hardwood in the country and and soon makes a mature tree. The varieties we supply will grow 6-8ft per year providing excellent screens and windbreaks. The timber is also in demand for furniture, interior joinery, floorboard and pallet making.
WILLOW will reach 20-24 ft after 3-4 growing seasons and then maintain this height whilst throwing up new shoots from the base. They will not grow higher than 28-30ft and may be kept short by pruning. They are excellent as screens and windbreaks but are also good hedges (both woven and unwoven) and are often used to stabilise riverbanks and improve landscapes. They support a wide range of wildlife.
Both the above are deciduous and weill lose their leaves in the autumn. They are not generally appropriate planted in town gardens or near to walls and drains where other tall trees or even mature trees should be substituted.
Please note our minimum order is £250 for fast growing willow and poplar.
A range of sizes of rooted and unrooted cuttings is available.
