These LIVING
GREEN SCREENS provide an instant and
effective solution to a huge range of problems.
They are a living alternative to traditional
fencing.
They are suppied either in lightweight troughs
for simple planting and attachment to fence
posts or as formal freestanding wooden troughs
with wooden uprights. The lightweight troughs
can be planted into shallow trenches in the
ground and will grow like normal plants. The
troughs will rot and the roots will grow into
the soil. Freestanding troughs can stand on
a hard surface but will of course need to be
effectively watered and fed and supported in
windy locations.
They are also available to clad entire buildings
with fully automatic watering and feeding systems.
The plants grow on
screens made from 5mm security mesh. For example,
13 ivy plants will typically produce 65 shoots
trained round the uprights to virtually cover
the 1.36m wide screen up to 1.8m (6ft). Additional
mesh can be added to the top of these to give
evergreen panels up to 2.8m high where Planning
Laws allow. This gives a secure, living green
screen which will improve with time and need
little maintenance. They can be supplied
with brackets to connect them to normal fence
posts. Panels are very thin, giving both privacy
and an attractive finish. They improve with
time and need very little maintenance.
Metre high panels are
also available in beech and hornbeam.
