Native Hedges
These barerooted plants are for planting
during the winter months, usually November until April. Some are available in pots during the
summer at prices available on request.
These hedge mixes are designed to suit your particular conditions. They are native plants mixed in traditional ways to give hedges which will be both stock-proof and of high wildlife value.
You may need protection against rabbits, deer etc. Please request a quotation for this if you feel it necessary. All hedges will need looking after well for at least their first year otherwise losses from drought may occur. We can also quote for provision of irrigation systems. In very exposed situations it may be advisable to plant smaller plants to have a better chance of establishment. Again please request a quotation if needed.
Many of these hedging plants are available in a range of sizes giving quite higher hedges if needed.
Bare rooted plants like these are for planting during the dormant season whilst leaves are off the trees. We will despatch them from November to April.
For Defra Stewardship grants plants of local provenance may be required. We may be able to supply these depending on your location.
Please note that our minimum order is £250 for hedges. See bottom of page for explanation of technical terms.

TECHNICAL. Whips are small trees which normally have side branches, depending on species. Except for Willows and Poplars, which are grown from cuttings, they are at least 2 to 3 years old and have been transplanted to ensure a compact and fibrous root system for successful planting.
