Hornbeam Mature Box Head Tree Root Ball

What is a Box head Tree?

Box Head trees are specially trained and shaped trees that are grown with a clear, straight stem and a foliage head which is trained around a cubed cane structure. The branch system and foliage is developed around the structure into a mature canopy which is regularly and expertly clipped to produce a cubed or box type shaping.\n\n

Species Information

With deeply veined, dark green foliage which turns brown in the winter and clings on to the branches, Hornbeam is great for difficult positions and poor soil. When used for Box Head Trees, Hornbeam lends itself to the task of pruning into blocks like no other. Because Hornbeam retains the majority of it's leaves during the winter, our Carpinus blocks retain their contours during the winter with their copper coloured leaves.\n\nThis tree has been pruned into a block with four equal sides of 100cm width and depth, and at a height of 120cm. By using Hornbeam, this box head tree has a compact branch structure which is well suited to pruning into straight edges and corners, emphasising the clear line structure of a garden at a natural height.\n\n
