Hydrangea paniculata 'Bobo'

Hydrangea paniculata 'Bobo'

From £31.99

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Bobo’ is covered with clusters of extravagant pure-white flowers in mid-summer, turning pink blushed later in the season. Its flowers grow in an unusual, broad cone shape that catches your eye immediately and adds a wonderfully unique feature to your outside space. The golden autumnal foliage follows offering additional seasonal interest.

This impressive dwarf hydrangea paniculata variety flowers between July and September and the flowers bloom on new stem growth. Its stems are very strong providing excellent support for the large blooms. Hydrangea ‘Bobo’ is a hardy shrub and will still flower well in high exposure areas.

Unlike other Hydrangea varieties, Hydrangea paniculata ‘Bobo’ is beautifully compact, growing to a max height of just 1 metre. Its neat and low structure makes it the perfect shrub for smaller garden borders and for keeping in containers on patios.

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Bobo’ prefers a sunny or partially shaded position, preferably sheltered from cold, drying winds. It is widely adaptable to many different soil types but prefers a loamy, non-alkaline soil that is moist but well-drained. If you are looking to improve your soil prior to planting your Hydrangea, we recommend adding plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost. Ensure the compost is deep into the soil and well mixed.

Water your Hydrangea paniculata ‘Bobo’ regularly until it is fully established. It requires minimal pruning due to its neat and compact growth habit. If you are wanting to prune your shrub down, this can be done after the flowering season in late winter or early spring.  Simply reduce the stems to restrict their growth and improve the overall shape of your shrub. As Hydrangea ‘Bobo’ shrubs flower on new wood, you do not need to worry about frost damage through the colder months.

After pruning, you add some more manure or garden compost to the soil to assist the new blossom. Keep an eye on the foliage as Hydrangea ‘Bobo’ can be prone to diseases such as leaf spot, powdery mildew and grey mould.
