Panicum virgatum 'Squaw' Grass

Panicum virgatum 'Squaw'

From £9.99

Panicum virgatum 'Squaw' is a colourful, deciduous grass with attractive, narrow, green leaves in an upright form in late spring to summer, which in autumn become a mix of purples and occasionally reds and oranges too. The feathery flower sprays are brown with a hint of pink from summer, contrasting with the foliage before then complementing its autumnal colours.

A clump-forming grass, Pancium virgatum 'Squaw' will grow in any well-drained soil and in a full sun position to a height and spread of around 1m. A hardy plant,  Pancium virgatum 'Squaw' will tolerate freezing conditions well in the UK. Being deciduous, it will die back somewhat in winter, so we recommend simply removing any dead foliage or spent flower stems in Spring to tidy the plant and maintain a neat appearance.

Panicum virgatum 'Squaw' will grow well in a pot of container on the patio, or equally makes a colourful addition to herbaceous beds and borders, adding movement and texture to the garden.
