    From £64.99

Pear Concorde produces medium to large fruits, pale green turning yellow in colour with some gold patches. Its pale yellow melting flesh is sweet and juicy, with a pleasant mild flavour. In late October, these large, green russet pears can be picked. Pear Concorde also produces pretty white flowers in spring. The latin name for Pear Concorde is Pyrus communis 'Concorde'. It grows to a height of 3 metres in 10 years and can be planted in all soil types. Pear Concorde is best positioned in full or partial sun.

    Planting Advice

Our pot grown Pear Concorde trees can be planted all year-round. To aid your pear tree’s growth we recommend using a sprinkle of root grow. Here are some tips for planting your pear tree:

    1. Dig a square hole as deep as your root mass and approximately 3x as wide
    2. Mix 50% of the original soil with 50% compost
    3. Place the roots of the tree into the hole, fill it with your soil mix and firm around gently (avoid banking the collar of the tree)

    Aftercare Advice

Keep the area free of competing weeds and grass for the first couple of growing seasons.

    • When planting in spring and summer: water well for the first few months and increase watering if there are periods of hot or dry weather
    • When planting in autumn: you may only need to water a little

If your garden is prone to rabbits, use a rabbit guard.

    Pruning Advice

It is important to prune your pear tree for the first few years to ensure a balanced shape and healthier tree.

    • Remove the lowest laterals and prune the rest back to about 10-15cm in length (formative pruning)
    • Remove any shoots growing out of the trunk to maintain a clear stem
    • Remove crossing, diseased or damaged branches (general pruning)
    • Remove some of the larger branches to open up the canopy

Formative pruning should take place in early spring and general pruning should occur in November and March.
