‘Gold Star’ is a pretty variegated form of Pittosporum featuring mid-green glossy leaves with yellow variegation and a cream central rib on dark reddish-coloured stems. Small maroon flowers develop in spring. Best suited to a sunny or partially-shaded location for the best foliage colouration, this compact yet bushy evergreen shrub will add decorative year-round interest to the garden. An excellent choice for mixed shrub borders, pairing with grasses or for pots and planters to add colour and style to the patio. Height and spread up to 2m.

Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Gold Star’ is a compact yet bushy evergreen shrub that features ovate mid-green and gold variegated shiny leaves with a wavy margin and a cream-coloured mid-rib. New growth emerges more yellow and becomes variegated as it matures. Small, fragrant maroon flowers are produced in spring.

This easy-to-grow shrub is tolerant of all moist, well-drained soil types and prefers a sunny or partially shaded position. It needs little maintenance but responds well to trimming and shaping. Considered semi-hardy it requires some protection from frosts and strong winds therefore a more sheltered location is best.

Pittosporum ‘Gold Star’ is a pretty, decorative shrub that will give colour and interest all year round.  Its rounded form and neat foliage particularly complements architectural planting such as grasses and phormiums in beds or borders, or it can look equally at home in a pot on the patio or in a gravel garden as a single focal point. Max height and spread is 2m.

Pittosporum ‘Gold Star’ is both easy to grow and maintain. Simply trim to shape in spring as cold winter weather can damage newly cut shoots and the foliage too if cut later in the year. Remove any damaged or diseased branches and maintain your chosen size and shape.

Add a good few centimetres of compost or mulch around the base of the plant in spring to encourage good, healthy growth.
