Pleached Espalier London Plane Trees
Platanus x Acerifolia, also known as London Plane, is a deciduous native to Spain. The bark is usually pale grey-green, smooth and exfoliating, or buff-brown and not exfoliating. The leaves are thick and stiff-textured, broad, palmately lobed, superficially maple-like.
Espalier Trees are forms that are pruned back to the main ‘arms’ every year. Their structure makes them ideal for creating divisions and boundaries in the garden. They can be used to accentuate the architectural lines of a design and give it depth, while maintaining an open and airy feel, since they block very little light.Learn more about Espalier Trees>
