From £69.99

Robinia 'Frisia' is a popular tree that will add excitement to your garden with its dramatic colour splashes through spring, summer and autumn. Young twigs are bright brown and have striking wine-red thorns that later turn brown.

This stunning tree presents bright, golden leaves throughout the summer. Pendent clusters of small fragrant pea-like white flowers appear in mid-summer.

Robinia pseudoacacia 'Frisia' is a stunning upright, medium sized ornamental tree that will grow to approximately 8 x 4 metres in 20 years. It is best that windy sites be avoided and the preferable soil type for the False Acacia Frisia tree is well-drained, acidic soil.

Planting Advice

Our single stem, pot grown False Acacia Frisia trees can be planted all year-round. To aid the trees growth more effectively, sprinkle root grow when planting. Here are some tips for planting your Frisia tree:

  1. Dig a square hole as deep as your root mass and approximately 2x as wide
  2. Mix 50% of the original soil with 50% compost
  3. Place the roots of the tree into the hole, fill it with your soil mix and firm around gently (avoid banking the collar of the tree)

Aftercare Advice

Once planted, keep the area free of competing weeds and grass for the first couple of growing seasons.

  • If planting in spring or summer, water well for the first few months and increase watering if there are periods of hot or dry weather.
  • If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little.

If your area is prone to rabbits, use a rabbit guard.

Keep a close eye on your Robinia pseudoacacia, some are suffering from an unidentified disease. New leaves are not unfurling properly and leaves are falling prematurely.

Pruning Advice

False Acacia Frisia trees do not require regular pruning, just simply a tidy up.

  • Remove any crowded or damaged branches
  • Wear protective gloves and long sleeved clothing

Prune in mid-summer to give enough time for the wounds to heal before the frost arrives.
