Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), also known as Sea Berry, is a native, ornamental prickly dediduous hedging plant that does well in coastal positions. It is noted for its plentiful, edible orange berries which are very high in vitamins and antioxidants (use in pies, preserves, sauces and juices) and attractive, delicate silvery foliage.
General hedge trimming should be done twice a year, once in early June and again in late September. It is important to prune at the right time, so as not to remove new growing shoots.
